Epithet: Professor of Astronomy at Cambridge Roger Cotes (1682-1716), Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, 1705-16, was Plumian Professor of Astronomy and Natural Philosophy at Cambridge, 1706-16, and editor of the new edition of Newton's Principia, 1713. Cotes wrote a series of lectures in 1707 to describe a course of experiments with which he had been involved, which were published by his literary executor Robert Smith as Hydrostatical and pneumatical lectures, 1738....
